BizDigital - Designing a Web Agency Website
Project: BizDigital – Designing a Web Agency Website
Client: BizDigital – A local Web Agency
Duration: 4 Months
Role: Sole Designer
Website: bizdigital.biz
Introduction
During my academic internship at Bizdigital, a local web agency, I was tasked with redesigning the agency’s main website. The objective was to create a functional, user-friendly, and visually appealing website that would serve as the primary landing page for potential clients and collaborators. The website was intended to showcase the agency’s previous works, clients, and services in detail, with each section dedicated to a particular aspect of the agency’s work. Additionally, the website was to be accessible on all devices, including mobile and tablet, and incorporate a blog section that was easy on the eyes, as users might spend considerable time on it. In this case study, I will discuss the problem statement, users and audience, roles and responsibilities, scope and constraints, process, outcomes, and lessons learned.
Problem Statement
Bizdigital’s previous website lacked visual appeal and was not user-friendly, resulting in potential clients having a negative first impression of the agency. The website did not showcase the agency’s creativity or technical potential, and the vast amount of content was not organized or easy to navigate. Furthermore, the website was not mobile-friendly, and the blog section was not optimized for a comfortable reading experience.
Roles and Responsibilities
As the UI UX designer responsible for the website redesign, my primary responsibilities included conducting user research, creating wireframes and prototypes, designing the visual elements of the website, and working closely with the marketing team to ensure consistency with the agency’s brand design. I also worked in collaboration with the department head, supervisor, and general manager, who provided feedback and guidance throughout the design process.
Scope and Constraints
The primary constraint was time as the website redesign had to be completed within the duration of my internship. Additionally, the website had to include a vast amount of content and incorporate a blog section that was easy on the eyes for prolonged reading. The website also had to be accessible on all devices, including mobile and tablet.
Process
The redesign process began with extensive user research to identify pain points and user preferences. I then created low fidelity prototypes and desktop wireframes, which I presented to my supervisor, department head, and general manager, who provided feedback and suggestions. Based on their input, I added enhancements such as animations and transitions to the design incrementally. I also worked closely with the marketing team to ensure consistency with the agency’s brand design. I chose a strong color scheme, gradient designs, rounded sections, and transparency, as well as bright solid colors, to showcase the agency’s creativity and thinking outside the box.
Outcomes
The redesigned website was a success and received positive feedback from clients and collaborators. The website’s visual appeal was improved, making a positive first impression on potential clients. The website was also made more user-friendly, and the content was organized and easy to navigate. Additionally, the website was optimized for mobile and tablet use, and the blog section was made more readable, resulting in increased engagement with readers.
Lessons Learned
Working on this project provided valuable insights into the importance of user research and feedback when designing a website. It also emphasized the importance of maintaining consistency with the agency’s brand design and thinking outside the box to make the website visually appealing and engaging. Lastly, this project highlighted the significance of incorporating mobile responsiveness and optimization for a comfortable reading experience, especially for blogs.
